Homemade Baileys Irish Cream

You heard me right. Here’s how to make homemade Irish cream, the college way! (I must confess that I did not, in fact, use Irish whiskey, because I’m broke and I had Evan Williams on hand. It worked anyway.) Other recipes use stuff like eggs (which I find unnecessary and potentially salmonella-y) and instant coffee (who the hell has instant coffee on hand? it’s disgusting.) But don’t skip the sweetened condensed milk. It makes everything awesome.

Homemade Baileys

3/4 cup Irish whiskey

7 oz sweetened condensed milk–about half the can

3 tablespoons coffee

2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (or cocoa powder)

Teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup cream

Combine ingredients in a bowl or mixing cup and whisk thoroughly. Put in a jar and shake a couple times. Keep refrigerated. Use like you would Baileys.
