Tonight’s Drinkin’: Calapooia Chili Ale

Calapooia Chili Beer. photo off their site.

I’ve discovered beer heaven…it’s called the Bier Stein in Eugene. So…many…microbrews….drool…

Anyhoo, I have an ongoing love for odd beers, so I gravitated to the chili beer on display immediately. Two of the best concepts on earth, spiciness and alcohol, combined in a bottle. God bless America.

I’ve never had any other brews from the Albany-based Calapooia (which my native Oregonian friend says is pronounced ‘calapoya’) but this has me intrigued. This curious green chili ale is strongly pepper flavored, but not terribly spicy. I’m not sure that the ale itself is very full bodied, but overall this is a stimulating, enjoyable brew.

Kate’s Beer Rating: 7/10
